Homosexuality during Communism – A research project

The GLAS Foundation is working on a project funded by the European Cultural Foundation (ECF) research grant and with the support of the US Embassy in Bulgaria.

The project includes a study of homosexuality and personal liberty during the communist regime in Bulgaria in the period since its rise to power until 1989. The results of the study will be presented in a printed publication and exhibition, which will combine different artistic approaches and present personal stories, using advanced technology, video and audio.

The European Cultural Foundation works to bring together communities and cultural actors that change and improve the cultural dialogue and promote democratic values ​​and research within and outside the European Union. Its main goal is to develop society through art and culture, to connect resources and knowledge and to support the exchange of cultural practices and policies.
