Victory for the LGBTI+ people in Bulgaria

At today’s sitting, 28 July 2023, the Parliament passed a law amending the Penal Code, which provides for heavier penalties for crimes committed with the motive of the victim’s sexual orientation.

Sofia Pride donated 5000 BGN. to Kyiv Pride

Sofia Pride and GLAS Foundation supported Kiev Pride with a donation of 5000 BGN in their fight for a better life for LGBTI people in Ukraine and the legalization of same-sex partnerships in the country.

The Community Voices project has started

GLAS Foundation, in partnership with Bilitis Foundation, the Association of European Journalists-Bulgaria and Oslo Pride, has launched the Community Voices project, implemented with financial support from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the EEA Financial Mechanism.

Reactions after the Rainbow Hub attack

Following the news of the attack at the LGBT Community Rainbow Hub, reactions were almost immediate. The vandalism was showcased in a number of Bulgarian and foreign medias and became part of the evening news on national televisions.

Attack on the LGBTI community centre Rainbow Hub

    On 30th of October, 2021 during a community meeting of trans people, a group of members of the Bulgarian National Union, led by Boyan Rasate, a notorious ultra right figure in Bulgaria who is also running in the country’s presidential election, broke into the Rainbow Hub.
