The GLAS Foundation is organizing two film screenings in Plovdiv and Kardzhali

The GLAS Foundation is organizing two screenings of the documentary OUT by French director Denis Parrot in Plovdiv and Kardzhali. The film is a collection of authentic videos of teenagers and children who share their different sexual orientation with their parents for the first time. The film was first presented in Bulgaria within the GLAS Foundation and Sofia Film Fest’s joint initiative ‘Cinema and gender’ in March 2019.

Right before the two screenings, the GLAS Foundation, in partnership with the British Council, is going to present for the first time in Bulgaria 5 short LGBTI-themed films from the UK. The five films are part of the program of the LGBTI festival BFI Flare, which is organized every year in London by the British Film Institute.

Some of the selected short films have been featured in the LGBTI + global campaign #FiveFilms4Freedom, which is organized every year since 2015 jointly by the British Council and the British Film Institute with the support of the UN. At the end of March, the GLAS Foundation became a partner of the British Council’s initiative in Bulgaria.

A special guest of the screening in Plovdiv will be Rebecca Walton, EU Regional Director of the British Council, who will open the evening and present the short films in the selection.

The event in Plovdiv will take place on April 16, at 7 pm in the Lucky Cinema (1 Gladstone str.) and in Kardzhali on April 17, at 5 pm, at the Business Incubator (12 Otets Paisii Str.). After the two screenings, a discussion will be held between Simeon Vassilev, President of the GLAS Foundation, and the audience on the topics covered in the films. Free entrance.
