Lecture by the Irish gay activist David Norris

Lecture by the Irish gay activist David Norris

The GLAS Foundation and the Embassy of Ireland organized an open lecture with the title ‘The Right to Privacy and Its Limitations’, presented by the independent Irish senator and activist David Norris.

The reason for the visit of Norris in Bulgaria was the 50th anniversary of the abolition of criminal responsibility for homosexual acts in Bulgaria. It coincided with the 25th anniversary of the decriminalization of same-sex love in Ireland.

The lecture took place on March 19, 2018, at the Uniart Gallery of the New Bulgarian University and was attended by over 100 Bulgarian and foreign students.

David Norris is a former university professor and the first openly gay man to be elected to a public post in Ireland. He is the founder of the Irish movement on the reform of the legislation regarding homosexuality and is a prominent member of the Irish Church
