The exhibition # Balkan Pride will be shown during Belgrade Pride 2019
The GLAS Foundation will present the exhibition # Balkan Pride in Belgrade in collaboration with Belgrade Pride. After its successful showing in Plovdiv in July 2019, the exposition is going abroad for the first time, and its organizers intend to tour other European capitals with it in the next few years in order to reach the widest possible audience.
The official opening of # Balkan Pride in Belgrade is on September 9, 2019, at 7:00 pm, in the Kulturni Centar GRAD Art Space and can be seen every day until September 15, 2019. The initiative will feature photographs that tell the story of the LGBTI rights movement in Southeastern Europe, including their accompanying anti-pride demonstrations and counter-protests.
The photos included in the exhibition are from all Balkan capitals and cities, as well as from Turkey. They are intertwined in a way that seeks dialogue between local and international cultures and outlines ways in which Balkan and European identities can coexist, complement and enrich each other.
The Belgrade Pride Week will start on September 9 and continue until September 15, 2019, ending with a walk and parade under the motto “I’m not giving up”. The march on September 15 will start at 5:00 pm from Slavia Circle and will end with a concert at Manjez Park.
