GLAS Foundation sent a postcard to the 240 MPs in the Bulgarian Parliament

GLAS Foundation sent a postcard to the 240 MPs from all political parties in the Bulgarian Parliament on the occasion of the World Human Rights Day celebrated on December 10th. The aim of the initiative is to remind politicians of the responsibilities they have in complying with international agreements to combat discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and the continuing lack of any legislation on this subject in our country. In Bulgaria and in 2018, there is still no legislative and institutional will to tackle discrimination and violence based on sexual orientation and / or gender identity.

“Bulgaria has made concrete commitments to the international community to tackle discrimination and violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and yet to date progress is minimal. LGBTI people in Bulgaria continue to feel like foreigners in their homeland and face daily intolerance in all spheres of life, and often with serious risks to their lives. We sent the card to the deputies to focus on these issues and hoping to encourage them to take action to solve them”, said Simeon Vassilev, Executive Director of GLAS Foundation.
